Edu-Care Mentoring

As the founder of ND Perspective, I adopt an Edu-Care approach in my Autism and ADHD mentoring, creating a supportive space for people identifying as neurodivergent to explore supports and strategies that prioritise personal well-being and work-life balance. My advocacy work includes supporting you to access services and supports, from filling out PIP and Access to Work applications, navigating Right to Choose or the NHS complaints process, through to negotiating reasonable adjustments with your employer.

How you choose to use your mentoring sessions is entirely up to you. However, I can support you across a range of different experiences, including:

Exploring Your Neuro-Traits:

I can help you to understand and embrace your neuro-traits, such as executive functioning, sensory processing, or attention differences. Through open discussions, I help you identify the traits that shape your personal and professional life and help you explore what brings you calm and joy.

Develop Regulation Strategies:

Navigating life as a neurodivergent person often requires tailored strategies to maintain calm and balance. Whether you’re managing stress under pressure, or reducing sensory or cognitive overwhelm, I’ll work with you to develop techniques that support you to reduce demands and stay regulated.

Advocacy Skills:

Advocating for your needs as a neurodivergent person can be challenging. I provide practical guidance to help you articulate your strengths, preferences, and requirements effectively. From workplace discussions to meetings with educators or service providers, I offer strategies for framing accommodation requests in ways that encourage collaboration and understanding.

Navigating Higher Education:

Through personalised project planning, accountability sessions, and refining communication strategies, I help you manage the complexities of academic and professional relationships. My mentoring is designed to give you the tools and confidence needed to overcome challenges, stay on track, and successfully complete your studies, all while gaining clarity in your academic journey.

Balancing Neurodivergent Family Commitments:

Balancing family life in a neurodivergent household can feel overwhelming, especially when combined with the demands of navigating Special Educational Needs (SEN) support as a parent. I provide guidance tailored to the unique dynamics of busy neurodivergent homes, helping you manage sensory and cognitive needs, navigate the EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) system, and prepare Disability Living Allowance (DLA) applications. Together, we work towards creating a more balanced and supportive home environment.

Practical Supports:

Navigating formal processes, such as applying for Access to Work or Personal Independence Payment (PIP), can feel overwhelming. I offer step-by-step guidance to make these processes more manageable, from gathering the necessary documentation to preparing for interviews. By breaking down the requirements into clear, achievable steps, I help alleviate the stress involved and ensure you feel prepared and supported. Together, we’ll work to secure the support you need with confidence and ease.

The Impact of an Edu-Care Approach:

The Edu-Care mentoring I offer has a powerful and lasting impact. My mentees gain a clearer understanding of their strengths and challenges while developing practical strategies to achieve their goals. By combining education, care, and actionable guidance, I ensure my mentees feel supported every step of the way as they embrace their potential and thrive.
